Monroe Circuit Court III

Christine Talley Haseman has served as the Judge of Monroe Circuit Court III since January 1, 2019.  Judge Talley Haseman presides over criminal cases, including misdemeanors and felonies up to and including murder. She previously served as Judge of Monroe Circuit Court VIII and presided over family law, small claims, and protective order cases. She served as Juvenile Referee in the Lawrence Circuit Court and presided over child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, paternity, and child support cases. Judge Talley Haseman has also been appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court to serve as a Hearing Officer in attorney disciplinary matters.

Judge Talley Haseman is one of nine judges on the Monroe County Board of Judges.  She currently serves on the Child Improvement Welfare Committee and the Rules and Access Management Committee for the Indiana Supreme Court.

Judge Talley Haseman has presented to the local bar at the Monroe County Bench-Bar on the topics of Mental Competency in Criminal Cases and Mental Health Challenges in Criminal Law.

In addition to her judicial responsibilities, Judge Talley Haseman is an Adjunct Professor in the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. She currently teaches a course on law and public policy.

Judge Talley Haseman serves on the Board of Directors for Stone Belt, Inc. As a member of the Stone Belt Board, Judge Talley Haseman has served on several committees, including committees to implement Trauma Informed Care to benefit Stone Belt employees and clients. She is a former board member for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) – Greater Bloomington Area.

Prior to taking the bench in 2019, Judge Talley Haseman was in the private practice of law. She represented more than 200 children in high conflict divorce, paternity, guardianship, and Child in Need of Services cases. Judge Talley Haseman also served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and, later, as a Public Defender in criminal and Child in Need of Services cases. She was a volunteer attorney for the Monroe County CASA program.

Judge Talley Haseman earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. She earned both her Bachelor of Science degree in Business, with honors and high distinction, and her M.B.A. from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
